Lavender Shaving Soap

For decades, the monks of Caldey Abbey sold their famed Island Lavender to travelers, rarely exporting it off the island, and then only at considerable expense. The stuff of summer winds and cool evenings, of crickets and peepers and bluish gloom on sheer cliffs at sunset, it has been described by many a perfume critic and fragrance lover as the greatest lavender fragrance ever made.

Some years ago, Barrister and Mann, fearing that the rarity of this masterpiece would doom it to anonymity, acquired several bottles in order to archive and preserve it and to present it for audiences beyond the shores of Caldey Island. During COVID, the original was reformulated (and even left production for a time), rendered a shadow of its former self. And so we came to stand alone, the last archive of greatest lavender fragrance in history.

To those who have smelled it, our Lavender is identical to the original, flawlessly re-created in every detail. It’s fascinatingly smooth and effortlessly cool, the kind of “blue” lavender fragrance that folks love for the rest of their lives. Try some and see what the fuss is about. You won’t regret it.

Absolutely a solid choice

Out my 20-25 different soaps and splashes this is my wife’s favorite scent! Lathers and cushions as you would expect, but the scent is the main reason to come back for more

My favorite. I have used several Barrister and Mann shave soaps. This is my favorite

Even better than Seville

I just received my order for the lavender shaving soap and the splash. I tried the soap this morning, and the ease blew me away. It created a lush lather and a fabulous classical yet sophisticated scent. Like Seville, there is an old school SOAP scent that gives me some nostalgia. I find this one even better than Seville; it remains for a longer time, but it is not polarizing like Lavanille could be. I strongly recommend pairing it with the fabulous splash

A Beautiful Scent

What a joy it is to use this soap. The base is dependable perfection. As to the scent, I had not thought to try this one until the re-release, as lavender scents usually smell too fabricated or chemically to me.

However, B&M has never steered me wrong, so I gave it a shot. Another winner. This soap is lovely.

Note: it’s not like sticking your nose in a sprig of lavender - but it’s better for not being that. This is a mellow, warmer scent that smells of lavender as if in a floral garden (but not too floral). It’s a beautiful aroma that is perfect for spring (or summer) days, and the dry down is super subtle but lingering.

The magic of B&M soaps is that off the puck you get a peek behind the curtain, but once you lather up, you get to see (or smell) the full picture of what the soap is about. A small but pure joy that lasts for a shave. I cannot wait to use again.
