Unusually straightforward for a Barrister and Mann scent, First Snow is a simple, modern leather, overlaid with the crisply resinous character of Siberian fir oil and garnished with just the lightest kiss of menthol. Originally premised on the idea of a "gentleman's menthol," First Snow is the smell of splitting wood outside a forest cabin, your leather jacket and gloves protecting you from the elements and from any flying debris, the mountain air cool on your face. 

This fragrance has remained one of our most-requested reissues since its last production run in 2018, and the time finally felt right for us to move it to Omnibus and release it for a brand new generation of shavers.

The Soap

Wet your shaving brush well, then swirl it around the jar for roughly thirty seconds or until a rich, creamy lather is formed. Continue building the lather by adding water and swirling your brush either on your face or in a lathering bowl. Shave, rinse, and spend your day feeling great.

First Run of the Day

A beautiful scent and feel. Great scents take me places, and once again B&M has opened up a core memory.

I grew up skiing with my mom and dad, and there is still no greater memory than those trips together. You get up early, groggy, and layer up; and then you go outside, get on the lift, and that bitingly crisp air hits you with the smell of pines, snow, your face warmer, and just the faintest hint of hydrocarbon from the ski patrol snowmobiles . You feel alive, relaxed (maybe sore), and ready for a day of adventure.

Not only is this that smell, it’s also that feel. The menthol is sharp but mature and actually gives the feeling of wind against your cheeks as you go down the mountain. It sounds corny, but it legit feels that way. The pine is so balanced but strong and the leather notes are warm enough to keep this from being harsh. I honestly don’t know if it’s the menthol alone or a combination of it with the leather and fir, but the most pleasant, and I also mean faintest, aroma of gasoline somehow floats in this once it opens up in the lather. It doesn’t stay post shave, but it is incredibly mellow and awesome. It is what gives an almost third dimension to this soap and shave experience. I truly felt like I was on a lift heading up for the day’s first run.

I first bought First Snow years ago Intrigued by the description of leather, fir, and menthol. I had no idea the trip on which it would send me! Suddenly I was 14 again, astride old Pal and working my way on this cold winter morning up through Pine Hollow, over the drag trail, and into the bottom of Dry Creek hunting the perfect Christmas Tree. The creak of leather as I shifted weight. And the smell of firs as I rode along that big stand of old growth! The breeze coming off Cache Peak was cold and brisk and bracing and everything is right in the world. Mr. Will calls this scent straight forward, and compared to most of his others that is correct but there is nothing simple about the brain-trip this one sends me on! Performed excellent and that kiss of menthol would even have folks who done like menthol happy. Oh I love this one!
